Ali was one of the first to enroll in the centre
Ali is 12 years old and lives in Guwahati, Assam. Ali spent most of his childhood picking up rags to help his father to making ends meet. Ali showed great promise as a bright child but poverty always held his parents back from being able to provide him with an education.
The opening of a Mission Education centre in their area changed that. Ali was one of the first to enroll in the centre. His progress has been remarkable and his teachers often remark on how much of a hardworking and a bright student he is. His parents, teachers and his neighbours are proud of what he has achieved and continues to achieve.

Ritu is currently in class 3 at the Smile Foundation’s Mission Education centre in Gurgaon. Her father abandoned Ritu, her mother, and her two brothers two years ago. To assist her mother with an income, Ritu was sent to work as domestic helper while her mother worked in a factory.
Upon much convincing by the teachers of the Mission Education program, Ritu and her brothers now attend school every day. Ritu is flourishing at school and enjoys learning and playing.
