Where it all began

The Black Seed has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of diseases and ailments and is one of the few ancient remedies that is backed by scientific research.

The history of Black Seed Oil dates to ancient times, where it was revered by civilizations in both the East and West. Black Seed has even been mentioned in ancient texts and has been found in the tombs of Pharaohs. For hundreds of years, Black Seed Oil has been used to help maintain the health and well-being of many civilizations, however it wasn’t until recently that science entered the picture and discovered why Black Seed Oil is such a panacea for maintaining health and treating a large range of illnesses.

In the 1950s a ground-breaking study by Mahfouz and Dakhany identified many of the constituents of Black Seed, and in particular they identified Thymoquinone (TQ), which is unique to Black Seed. TQ has subsequently been shown by a large number of peer reviewed studies to be responsible for many of the health promoting characteristics of Black Seed Oil. Its power can be attributed to the presence of a number of pharmacologically active constituents such as thymoquinone, thymohydroquinone, dithymoquinone, thymol, nigellone and many other phytochemicals
